In 2019, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido celebrated it’s 25-year anniversary, and for the Museum’s fall exhibition I was tasked with creating the exhibition branding and design.
XXV: The Silver Anniversary Exhibition celebrates and reflects on the 25-year history of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido with artwork from the Museum’s permanent collection as well the Center’s first season in 1994.
As the lead designer for the exhibition, I was responsible for taking the 25th Anniversary branding and expanding it to create printed exhibition materials, signage, and design elements
Process
The initial drafts for the promotional artwork were spent trying to understand how to incorporate the XXV Logo with the highlighted exhibition artwork by Robert Mapplethorpe. These explorations helped determine the design treatment for the didactic panels, wall vinyl, banners, and booklet.
