Endangered: Exploring California’s Changing Ecosystems and Finding Heaven in Hellhole Canyon were two concurrent art exhibitions at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido that featured artwork relating to environmental and climate issues.

As the lead designer, I created the promotional artwork for the exhibitions as well as mailers, posters, flyers, brochures, title walls, didactic panels, and additional wall vinyl.

Process

When creating the promotional artwork for the exhibition, I was inspired by the environmental commentary of the artwork featured in the exhibition, and the juxtaposition of the “wonder and destruction of flora and fauna through out California.”

Didactic Panels

In the Endangered gallery, there was an additional educational component about causes of environmental impacts and actions that can be taken to address these issues. Each artist featured in the exhibition was categorized as Land, Water, or Air, so I created simple motifs on the educational focused panels that were also used on the title cards to help identify each artist’s catregorization.
